Paul Pierce finished his Texas two-step with 29 points Saturday when the Celtics rallied late to beat the Mavericks 102-93 for Boston's fourth straight win. That moved the C's a half game ahead of Atlanta into the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Pierce, who scored 26 Friday night in a win at Houston, was steady throughout for Boston. The Celtics were a little up and down, scoring 30 points in the first quarter before having to weather a substantial Dallas push.
Rajon Rondo made several key plays in the fourth quarter and finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to help Boston overcome a seven-point fourth quarter deficit. It was Rondo's 33rd double-double of the season. Ray Allen added 21 points, and Kevin Garnett had eight points, nine rebounds and five steals.
