Welcome back! Well, I guess you should be saying that to me. It sure has been a while since my last blog entry, so I figured it was time to update you all on the season, especially around the holiday season. It's currently half time of the Auburn and Oregon game. If you must know, I have Oregon winning only because of the PAC-TEN (the result will already be done by the time you read this, fingers crossed). Speaking of PAC-TEN, Stanford beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Actually, beat is a light word. The Cardinal just waxed them! But enough about football, this is an NBA site.
Over the holidays, Christmas and New Years, I enjoyed a couple of activities. Starting with Christmas day we played the Chicago Bulls. It was an early game so the day started at about 8 a.m. for me. On the way to the game I had "O Holy Night" on repeat. I know, you're probably thinking, "Landry, what a perfect pre-game hype song!" Correct, that's why I played it about ten times on the way to the arena, no lie. So naturally, we won the game. We call that the Knick's Christmas Give Away; if you're a fan, you received a present. Unfortunately, my family was not able to make it out this year on December 25th, so I spent my day with my good friend Mark Doman (Andy Rautins went home for the day). I spent the night in the city only to wake up this mystery material falling out of the sky.
Now, if I wasn't an educated man, I would think this white, pea-sized material, was foreshadowing for a cataclysmic event. However, after proper research and the fact that my body was trembling involuntarily, I quickly concluded that I was experiencing my first snow storm. Awesome timing Mother Nature, it wasn't like I had to drive home from the city... oh wait. That car ride home took approximately two and half hours to Westchester County. My vehicle topped an all time record speed of 25 mph, Nascar status. The way cars were moving on the highway was in similar fashion to me when I go ice-skating; slipping, sliding and uncontrollable movement. I remember thinking this looked funnier on television. I made is safely home though, obviously.
Early last week I learned I received "Rookie of the Month" honors for December, which came as a bit of a surprise to me, but I am very thankful and honored to get it for the second month in a row. As I said before, we are on a west coast road trip and just got to Portland after playing the Lakers last night. That was definitely an experience for me because growing up, Kobe and the Lakers were my favorite. So the ability play them after watching for so many years was a blessing for me. It would have been great to get the win, but some nights on offense you just don't have it as a team. Great thing about this league is you can redeem yourself shortly.
Finally, Andy and I have our show coming soon. I just saw the pilot episodes and they seem to be pretty funny. Who knows though, it'll be about what the fans think, not me and my biased opinion. Therefore, be on the look out! Or just find out through someone else. Either way, either way's fine. Until next time, Knick Nation, take care!

Good ol' Knicks' fans! It's been a while since my last entry; my apologies, the NBA season gets a little tricky and tiresome! The last few weeks we have been playing well! I think our team is meshing more and our on/off court chemistry is growing. A couple week ago I was able to play in front of my family when we traveled to LA to play the Clippers. What an exciting time is was for me. Not only was I able to see my family, since the summer time mind you, we also got the win! That made the cross country plane ride back much more enjoyable after the game. I have never been able to sleep on planes, but that ride I was asleep pretty much the entire time. I'm guessing the NBA schedule caught up to me at that moment. It was one of those good, deep sleeps; you know, the ones where you wake up and a stream of drool is steadily racing down your shirt? Yes, that kind of sleep. You're welcome for the mental image.
Another great moment from the trip was the fact that I was able to see my former team, the Stanford Cardinal, beat up on some Virginia Cavaliers! He'll probably deny it or say he forgot, but Roger Mason Jr. owes me a lunch because my team got the big W. Mental note, Roger. Seeing my old coach and teammates was extremely enjoyable for me. I definitely felt a little uneasy being a spectator and not playing. However, being a fan allowed me to catch certain nuances of former teammates and coaches that I missed all of last year. For example, one of my old teammates, when playing defense, has the happiest feet i've ever seen. When he guarded the ball it looked like a dance-off between him and the man he was guarding. Imagine Ali's icky-shuffle and MC Hammers, "Can't Touch This," quick-foot dance rolled into one. But that's neither here nor there. They played great and it was a real pleasure to see them again.
For the month of November, I was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. First off, wow, what an honor! It was truly a blessing to receive such an accolade. If anyone told me during training camp or pre-season that I would receive the honor, I would have given them the same line and face Gary Coleman used to give on every episode of Different Strokes; "What chu talkin' about Willis?!" Haha, in all seriousness though, I would have never guessed it. I am truly thankful and want to give thanks to my teammates, coaches, and all the executive staff for the Knicks! But, I still have lots to learn and grow upon; I can't and won't just be satisfied with this only!
It's getting closer and closer to Christmas and I am looking for great gift ideas for my family, especially my Mom and Sister. Shopping for women is not my strong point, so if anyone has any good suggestions, not the cliché gift card ideas, I'd truly appreciate it! (Twitter: (@landryfields) I love Christmas! Recently, I journeyed with teammate Andy Rautins to the nearest Target so he could buy a fake tree and an electric fire place. Tonight, I went over to his place and saw the nice tree perfectly set up in the corner of his apartment. As for the fire place, it took some tip-toeing around in order to not step on all the screws drastically scattered on the floor. He says the instructions are impossible to read. For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
By the way, and this is not a fib, lie, joke, mishap, magic trick, falsity or anything of that nature, but Andy and I have our own show that we are in the midst of filming. Coming soon, so be sure to check it out! "The Andy and Landry Show" (totally original show name, we know). Until next time Knick Nation!

Back again!
Hello, Knick Nation. It's been a while since my last blog and only because now that the season has started, things have been pretty hectic. We are currently 3 and 5 right now, but don't worry, we will be fine. We are fine tuning some things on defense and working out the chemistry and spacing on offense, so we'll be better.
The NBA lifestyle during the season is crazy. So crazy in fact that I often am forgetting what day it is and it's not even December yet! It's possible to have a back-to-back, then a practice day, followed by another back-to-back. Luckily, we have some of the best trainers in the world. They are extremely smart when it comes to body recovery and heightening player durability. That is why the NBA is allowed to have so many games. While guys do get tired, we have the proper tools to maintain a healthy and stable season.
When we are on the road we have been staying at the some of the best hotels I have ever been in. My favorite so far has been the hotel in Chicago. What made it so exquisite was because there was a huge panel next to the bed that controlled everything; the TV, the lights, the shades and even the privacy for the door were all on this control board. What I like to do in each city, well, what Andy and I like to do, is walk the streets for a little bit and find a good dinner spot. He and I, in my opinion, would be pretty fun to hang around with. We are real personable with everyone we come into contact with and always make for good company when we are out to eat. We tend to try new restaurants and different food. So far, our adventurous spirit hasn't failed us. Fingers crossed.
I've started every game so far this year (not including pre-season) and I seem to get more and more comfortable with each game. What's so funny to me is that not even a year ago, I was watching all the players that I have to guard now. Don't get me wrong, when I'm on the floor I'm not thinking to myself, "Oh wow, that's Brandon Roy" or "That's Monta Ellis." My mentality when I hit the arena is that these are just some other guys that I happen to be playing this night. If I start putting players on pedestals, that will only add unwanted pressure on myself that I don't need, especially as a rookie.
Next week we start a west coast tour, which I am pretty excited about. Being from Long Beach and having gone to Stanford, it will be fun to play at Golden State and Clipper land in front of some familiar faces. I plan on attending Stanford's game against Virginia as well. I am truly anxious to get back to Stanford's campus. I haven't been there since the end of my college basketball career. So good luck to all my fellow Stanford family this season! I will be watching!
Until next time Knicks fans.

My fellow Knicks fans! Since you last heard from me, a good amount has been going on. We finished our preseason games and all of them were extremely beneficial not just for me, but for our "new" team. I was able to get a good amount of run in all the games, which has been great for me to get more experience at the NBA level under my belt. Some games that stood out most for me were against Washington, Philadelphia and our last game against Toronto.
Everyone has been asking me what it was like to knock down the game tying shot against the Wizards. Well, it felt great! Now, to be honest that shot wasn't anything different than the kind of shots I get up before each game with our coaching staff and fellow teammates like Shawne Williams and Andy Rautins. All that I did was react to my defender; I gave him an "up fake" and took a one dribble pull up. But the real credit goes to Ronny Turiaf and Toney Douglas on the last offensive play. Ronny gave Toney a great back door pass and because Toney was fouled on the shot, he buried both free throws for us to win the game!
The game against Philly was great for me to get on the road and perform how I did. I do wish we had gotten the win, but my play was good and since then, has helped me reiterate to myself that I can play at this level. There still is much more room for me to grow though, and that will come with each day of practice and every game.
Finally, our last game against Toronto was cool for me because I got to start. Again, a win would have been great, but at the end of the day, pre-season is more about us as a team rather than the other guys. Now that the official NBA season is going to start, we will have much more focus on our opponent.
The game against the Raptors was actually in the City of Montreal. Montreal was freezing! It definitely was a good test for the kind of weather I can expect this winter in NYC, but I don't see how anyone can get used to it. Also, upon arriving in Montreal, I thought the plane miraculously ended up in France. All the advertisements were in French and everyone living there was speaking the same. Luckily, most everyone spoke English as well, so that made ordering my Banana, Nutella and Chocolate Crepe much more easier the morning of the game. The crepe was amazing for the first couple bites, but it became too rich for me. I guess too much of anything is never good. However, the real intoxicating meal I had while in Montreal was a place called "M-Burger." It was a nice sit down place where you build your own burger. I had what they called a, "Z Mac." Imagine a gourmet Big Mac from McDonald's, but bigger. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had! But the real highlight of the meal was the dessert. So my favorite kind of dessert is a big, warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. M-Burger brought out a circular pan that one would use to cook with, and in it was a 8 inch in diameter chocolate chip cookie with two scoops of ice cream on top. The cookie pretty much was melting, so naturally, the dish had no chance of survival. Ask Andy Rautins (@andyrautins1) how good it was, I let him have a couple bites.
Many people ask me, what do you like most about playing in the NBA? I usually say perks. Because I'm a simple guy, I appreciate simple things. The perk, besides the obvious extravagant ones, that I like most is not having to worry about my game uniform, shoes, or any other kind of gear I might need for a game. In college, we had to pack our own game uniform, warm-ups, socks, shoes, etc, if we were on the road. Basically, if you showed up to the game and you forgot your uniform or shoes, you weren't going to play. Of course there were teammates that would sacrifice their gear for other's who played heavy minutes, but that automatically meant that person who gave up their gear had no shot of playing that night. Here with the Knicks, all of the game gear is set up in the locker room once you arrive. Any little thing that allows less stress for me is always appreciated.
Our regular season starts on the 27th of October and our first home game is October 30th against the TrailBlazers. Come show all your love and support for your new and improved New York Knicks this season! Hope everyone can make it, take care!

Hello, Knick Nation! I'm live from the Knicks practice facility where it's marketing day. Imagine the scene from
Zoolander where he's dressed up like a monkey and told to dance; that's a perfect analogy of what today is like.
There are different stations set up for us to accomplish. The first station is the signing station where we sign
basketballs, posters and other Knicks apparel. That station definitely went the smoothest. The next station was a
little more interesting. We had to model in some Knicks Apparel. My personal favorite was the Knick's Snuggie. If
you havent already, check out Andy Rautin's Twitter to see what it looks like. I definitely want one now for my
apartment. I think it will go good with the total elegance I have established already.
The next station involved me and Patrick Ewing Jr. singing a number of songs. My favorite was the Justin Bieber song, "Baby." I know what you're thinking, but don't act like that song doesn't get stuck in your head all day when you hear it on the radio. It's tough being a rookie though. I get passed up by all the veterans who have the entitlement of going first. You can't really complain about it, they have been in the league longer. Love it.
The other stations consist of video film for games. So everything you see on GardenVision in Madison Sqaure Garden is being filmed right now. It's a little bit emabarrasing to do especially because all my teammates are watching as I was doing it. But, I consider myself a natural. Hopefully, James Cameron will think about me for his next ground breaking motion picture. It's all fun though! I enjoy these kinds of things because it really gives a chance for the fans to see the player's real personalities. Today, I had to guess the songs that Toney Douglas was singing. Now, I would never say Toney is a prime Candidate for American Idol, but he sure let loose when Kesha's Tick-Tock song came on. I was literally crying from how hard I was laughing. I had never seen this side of Toney yet.
Tomorrow we have a game against the Celtics at home. I hope to see as many fans as possible at the game! We really want to establish an outstanding home court advantage for this year and that can only be accomplished by you! I'm excited to play at MSG for the first time, too. So until next time, have a great one!

Greetings from the good ol' U.S. of A! We just got back from France and Italy, and what a trip it was! It's always great to spend time overseas, but I think we all were ready to get back. Our first game was in Milan and it was a great experience. It was my first game in an official Knick's uniform and I can tell you it's a completely different feeling from college. The arena was sold out and everyone was hyped to play our first pre-season game. I was able to get on the floor for a few minutes at the end of each half; not going to lie, my nerves were jumping, but as I got up and down the court a few times, I started to settle down. We ended up winning the game and took a direct flight straight to Paris.
For those who have never been to Paris, it's a beautiful city! It was so clean and the architecture was indescribable. It's definitely a city that I would have no problem living in. The day after arriving in France, Andy Rautins and I decided to check out the world's biggest museum, the Louvre. I had already arranged a special date with Mona Lisa upon arrival, so I had to make sure that I didn't leave her hanging. In all seriousness though, going to Paris and not checking out the Louvre is like going to New York and not going to a Knicks' game; it shouldn't be done. The museum was enormous; there were multiple floors, security everywhere and thousands upon thousands of people, sculptures, artifacts and paintings. I remember asking myself how much money are all the items in the museum worth put together? Anyone have a clue? If so, hit me up on twitter.
The days in France came and went. One night, Ronny Turiaf took us out to a restaurant over looking all of Paris. We had a great view of everything, even the Eiffel Tower. The only knock on France that I have is that you can't just walk out on the street and flag down a taxi. Yes, I know this is absurd news to any New Yorker, but it's the truth. One actually has to go to a taxi stand, which are placed on corners through out the city, if they need a ride. Not to mention, the taxi drivers only spoke so much english, so correct pronunciation of destinations you wanted to travel to became key.
Our game in France was against the Minnesota Timberwolves. I played a little more this game and did pretty well. I wish I could say we won, but we didn't. It's all good though, we are still straightening out a few wrinkles in preseason when the games don't count, that way we will be money when the regular season begins. It was a good chance for me to go up against more NBA talent. I feel I learned a good amount from the game and will take that momentum into practice.
We have an open practice Sunday the 10th at Madison Square Garden. This will give you, the fans, a chance to check out your New York Knicks for the first time live. Also, everyone keeps telling me that I'm not in the new 2K11 game. Have no fear! For the next roster update the game puts out, I should be there rockin' the latest #6 uniform! Until next time Knick Nation, have a good one!

What's up Knick Nation! As many of you know, me and the rest of the team are on our Euro trip to Milan, Italy and Paris, France. We arrived two days ago and most of us our getting used to the time zone and are getting over our jet lag. Not to mention, some people may be feeling the effects of the double days we had back in New York!
My first NBA training camp went well. Day by day I grew better and better in understanding Coach D'Antoni's system as well as adjusting to the NBA level of talent. No one can really prepare you for the pace of the NBA game until you are actually thrown into it fully. Not even in the Vegas Summer League did I get the full experience of what I am going through now. But, as I said before, I am adjusting.
The two-a-days were a bit tiring; the morning practice was mostly just shooting, conditioning and 5 on 0 stuff. During the second practice we went more into full contact play as well as break down sessions of offense and defense. We really want to tighten up our D this year because that's what makes the difference if we want to be a championship caliber team. Everyone is really buying into the whole system and we all seem to mesh well. Amar'e and Raymond are our co-captains and have done a phenomenal job of leading. While those two are the captains, the other veterans on the team like Roger Mason Jr. and Ronny Turiaf, both help lead. They have really taken me under their wings and have been hands on day by day in helping me better my game. I think the basketball IQ of this team is a little under rated. Every team member has great input and shows a tremendous amount of understanding for the game.
Being a rookie and having to go against the best talent in the world is quite a humbling experience. What I was able to do in college I am no longer able to do now. Guys are much more athletic, quicker and stronger. The best way to succeed on the court is to be as efficient as possible. Me personally, I do a lot of different things well so I am trying to add my versatility to the team and help out in whatever way I can. I want to make sure I am able to knock down a consistent jumper as well. That has been my main focus so far during training camp. As the days come and go, it seems to be getting better and better. Assistant Coaches, Dan D'Antoni and Kenny Atkinson, have been extremely helpful so far in their efforts to work with me before and after practice. Extra time and working hard are key ingredients in playing time and remaining in the NBA.
As I said before, we are in Italy right now. I am currently writing this blog while my main man, Andy Rautins, is flipping through the TV channels. Just so everyone knows, Italian TV consists of three things: Soccer, ESPN America, and CNN. So you guessed it, most of our time is spent outside of the hotel. Andy and I just finished shopping at the Galleria, a fashion district of Milan with every kind of store you can think of. The architecture here reminds me a little of New York City. Everything has an old fashion feel to it and all the streets look exactly the same. I have been meaning to take more pictures, but haven't. Throughout the week though I will and will post them to my Twitter. If you aren't already, you should follow me! (@landryfields)
For my next blog, I will give you insight into our game against Milano, and when we travel to Paris, the Minnesota Timberwolves. Finally, good luck to Stanford Football this season! Catch you next time Knicks fans!

Hey, this is Landry Fields. I’ll be checking in with this blog once or twice a week on nyknicks.com, recording my thoughts and putting them out there for everyone.
Today was Media Day and it was kinda hectic. We started off with some joke stuff with the media, a lot of pictures and smiles. You have a chance for the fans to see a bit of your personality, and you’ve got to roll with it. But I enjoy doing stuff like that, and it was a lot of fun for me.
Right now I am sitting here waiting on all the reporters to come in and ask all their questions about the team and the different situations we are going to be put in this season. I am anticipating a lot of questions about how we will mesh being a new team, questions about Europe and how we will come together during the preseason.
Tonight, we have a team dinner planned and then tomorrow starts the hard stuff with two-a-days for training camp. I am looking forward to it, but I know it will be tough. It’s like going from junior high school to high school, and then from high school to college, and now from college to the NBA. So there is going to be some growing pains but I am looking forward to all of it.
Well the media is about to come in, but I will be sure to check in shortly to talk about my first few days of practices and also talk about my thoughts on going to Europe. I will definitely check in from over there as well.
I look forward to giving you, the fans, a look into the life of an NBA rookie.
