2009-10 Sixers News And Notes

Upcoming Games:

Tonight vs. Orlando: The Sixers finish the season in the same place it began, against the Magic in Orlando… it’s been 169 days since Philly travelled to the Magic Kingdom for the season opener back on October 28th… this is the first time since the 1965-66 season that the franchise has opened and closed the season against the same opponent.

Tonight vs New Jersey: The Sixers are looking to sweep the season series against the Nets after New Jersey won all four games in 2008-09… the Nets currently have seven wins this season and are looking to avoid the worst record in NBA history held by the 1972-73 Sixers (9-73 mark).

Friday at New York: New York and Philly wrap up their season series with their second game over a five-day span… both teams are averaging over 104 points through the first three meetings… Andre Iguodala is averaging 16.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists against the Knicks this season.

Saturday at Chicago: This is the fourth and final meeting between the Sixers and Bulls this season… Philly won the last game played at Wachovia Center in overtime… Elton Brand, who was the first overall pick by Chicago in the 1999 NBA Draft, is averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 rebounds against the Bulls this season.

Monday vs. Orlando: The Sixers and Magic meet for the third time this season… both teams have scored 100+ points in each of the first two games… rookie Jrue Holiday had a career-high 23 points in his only game played against Orlando back in February.

  • Philly is 18-6 Dating back to a win at Portland on 12/28, the Sixers have won 12 of their past 25 road games after starting the season 3-12 away from home… Philly and Boston will be the only teams with more wins on the road than at home this season.

  • Jodie Meeks had a career-high tying 21 points against Miami on Monday and is the Sixers second-leading scorer over the past five games… during that span, he’s averaging 14.4 points in just 22.6 minutes per game.
  • Marreese Speights has scored in double-figures in four of the past eight games after doing so three times his previous 29 games played… he’s also scored 20+ points in two of the past five games.
