Training Camp - 10/2/2009 Morning Report

The only session on Day Four of the Philadelphia 76ers 2009-10 Training Camp featured a full-court, five-on-five scrimmage, complete with referees, shot clocks and game clock. It gave Head Coach Eddie Jordan and his staff the chance to break the guys down into two teams to really put the offensive and defensive sets into practice.

One team was lead by Associate Head Coach Mike O'Koren, who's team featured Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Sam Dalembert and and Willie Green - against the team led by Assistant Coach Aaron McKie, who had Elton Brand, Lou Williams and Jason Kapono, among others.

Coach Jordan said afterward that Jason Smith had his best day of camp, following a performance that saw him very active on both ends of the court, particularly the offensive end. During one possesion, he had two offensive rebounds, the latter of which he kicked out to Iguodala at the top of the key, who in turn tossed up a perfect alley-oop to Young who threw it down with authority.

Both Brand and Dalembert - who went through the full practice - had a few blocks and were active on the defensive end of the court. Overall, the team was able to get in a complete two quarters of solid action prior to the final set of double-sessions tomorrow. The team will wrap up training camp following tomorrow's evening session and then prepare for their first pre-season game at London, Ontario against the Raptors on October 6.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST
Following practice, Coach Jordan indicated that in the morning, he gave the players a test of the five things he expected during transition and allowed for a sixth bonus answer, if the players elected to respond. He said that one of the players was so confident that he correctly answered all five questions, for the bonus question he added, "Don't need this one, got all five right."

IN THE WEIGHTROOM
The Sixers have followed a fairly strict weight-training regimen throughout camp. The bigs are in the weight room on Tuesday, Thursday and tomorrow, while the guards go in on Wednesday, Friday and then are scheduled for Sunday. The young guys lift prior to practice, while the veterans are given the option of going before or after.

SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT
The Sixers will likely conclude Training Camp tomorrow night with another scrimmage.

EINHORN IS FINKLE! FINKLE IS EINHORN!
Word spread early on today that former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino was on campus to speak, but he did not stop by Sixers practice.

FINISHING STRONG
Following today's single-session, Sean Singletary was the last Sixer on the floor getting in some extra shots.
